Essential and Marginal Functions ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:1. Create a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to learning through organization.2. Teach and apply safety principles as part of all instruction.3. Incorporate equipment and apparatus and the use of technology to deliver instruction.4. Demonstrate and maintain current knowledge in science.5. Maintain student records including all required paperwork.6. Communicate regularly with parents and be available for educational purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.7. Demonstrate appropriate planning and the use of a variety of instruction techniques and strategies.8. Maintain and upgrade instructional content via task analysis and competency review.9. Provide student with creative opportunities to carry out various experiments.10. Attend staff meetings, and department meetings.MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:1. Assist in maintaining the storage of inventory and maintenance of departmental supplies, materials, and equipment.2. Maintain all equipment and supplies used in classroom.3. Participate in District and other science functions.4. Participate on building and District science committees. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:1. Appropriate PA teacher certification.2. BA required in appropriate major study. Masters preferred but not required.3. Must be able to organize a classroom to deliver the School District of Lancaster Science Education program.4. Strong communication and motivational skills.5. Ability to effectively communicate with, instruct, and work with students, staff and parents.6. Ability to demonstrate and instruct a high level of manipulative skills.7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable and appropriate.
