Position SummaryThis position will transport and deliver materials to Taco's customers in a timely and safe manner meeting customer and company requirements, operate and maintain delivery vehicles, and support Taco's vision, mission statement and goals. The person filling this position must be adaptable to ever-changing business environments and departmental need changes as well as interdepartmental, general business and customer communication and confidentiality. This position is a non-exempt, hourly position and will report directly to the Shipping Supervisor.
Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesThese are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Perform daily vehicle inspections pre- and post-deliveries.
- Accurately maintain Drivers Daily Log and complies with all D.O.T. rules and regulations.
- Inspect goods loaded to ensure package count, load weight limits, route sequence, load stability, ease of unloading, appearance, etc.
- Check all invoices and bill of ladings prior to delivering to plan most efficient route, to ensure that COD orders and pick-ups are collected and to comply with any special instructions noted.
- Transport and deliver goods to our customers in a safe, timely and professional manner following daily delivery schedules.
- Become familiar with customer's needs by direct contact, communication with Sales staff and/or Warehouse Manager.
- Immediately report to your Warehouse Manager any customer inquiries, product discrepancies, or product damage during delivery.
- Ensure customer signs the appropriate document(s) when product is delivered.
- Ensure that all monies collected, shipping documents, keys, maps and delivery equipment are returned to the warehouse facility, Warehouse Manager and/or appropriate department after each scheduled delivery.
- Ensure delivery vehicles are safe, clean, in proper working condition and maintained on a regular basis.
- Immediately report all vehicle problems to the Warehouse Supervisor/Manager.
- Immediately advice the Warehouse Manager of any traffic infraction incurred while on or off of work, changes in CDL license status or endorsements, and renewal of Medical Card.
- Participate in warehouse and safety meetings and other company activities when possible.
- Perform other warehouse tasks as assigned.
Other (Non-Essential) Functions - Contribute to a team effort by proactively assisting internal contacts
- Attend training programs to develop relevant knowledge, techniques, and skills.
- All other duties assigned.
Position Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent; and
- CDL A driver's license; and
- Five (5) years prior OTR experience.
- Experience using delivery and material handling equipment.
- Proficient with basic computer usage.
- Willingness to travel up to 90%.
- Must not have any major traffic violations within the last 5 years.
- Must be able to pass DOT screenings.
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions- Continuous contact with other people requiring communications via face-to-face, orally by telephone and various written methodologies
- Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
- Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time
- Lifting: Lifting items up to 70lbs and moving packaged products and/or palletized product during the loading and unloading process.
- Driving: Over the road transportation of products to customers. Varying weather climates and traffic conditions will be experience during this time.
