Principle Duties (includes, but may not be limited to): - Visually inspect all components prior to assembly for compliance to work order specifications, and for burrs, defects and cleanliness.
- Calculate the cut length of iso-bend pipe to achieve the correct finish length and mark the cut-off points.
- Secure iso-bend pipe and cut to length with pipe cutting tool.
- Set-up pipe sever machine and cut pipe to length without cutting the liner.
- Install the correct flange/stub end combination and weld pipe housing in accordance with manufacturing and customer supplied specifications.
- Recheck overall spool length with allowance for liner thickness, and complete the inspection sheet.
- Assemble and tack weld fitting and special products using a press or other appropriate tooling.
- Weld fittings and special products complete in accordance with manufacturing and customer supplied specifications.
- Perform all welding in the position as specified by the Procedure and welder qualification.
- Set-up welders with correct filler wire and compressed gas at the proper pressure setting.
- When required, assemble, tack and tig weld fittings in accordance with manufacturing procedures.
- Use blueprint reading skills to interpret engineering or customer supplied drawings and specifications.
- Use ability to read measuring instruments not limited to, but including tape measure, micrometers and callipers.
- Verify protective shield and restricted area signs are in place before welding.
- Perform material handling functions using hand trucks and carts.
Qualifications/Experience : - Must have high school education or equivalent.
- Should have ASME Section IX MIG certification, or be able to obtain certification within a reasonable period of time.
- Three or more years experience with carbon steel preferred.
- Fabrication experience and the ability to work from blueprints and sketches is required.
- Five or more years welding experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
