Mine Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the mine's heavy equipment fleet, mine camp, and small engine vehicles. The mechanic performs preventive maintenance and timely repairs to keep machinery and vehicles in optimal working condition, working closely with all mine team members to strengthen team skills and support mining operations. This role is crucial to the productivity and reliability of mine operations, requiring a deep understanding of mechanical systems, adherence to safety standards and the ability to troubleshoot problems effectively.
You will have the opportunity to:- Perform maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment fleet, small vehicles, and mine camp
- Schedule and coordinate all fleet maintenance ensuring mechanical integrity and minimizing disruptions to operations
- Schedule and manage service contractors, coordinate with suppliers and vendors
- Manage inventory of camp supplies, fuel, oil, and parts
- Assist in budgeting and capital expenditures for maintenance and camp requirements
- Provide administrative support in maintaining electronic documentation for all maintenance areas; maintain all environmental records pertaining to maintenance work including SPCC tank inspections, SWPPP oil spill reporting and TRI generator maintenance documentation
- Work safely, independently and with other employees effectively
REQUIREMENTS:- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Specialized training in welding and machinist work
- Associates degree in mechanics preferred
- 5 years experience in heavy equipment maintenance and repair; welding/fabrication; small engine repair and maintenance
- 3 years experience in mining and/or heavy construction related field
- Current driver's license
- Basic computer skills including spreadsheet navigation and data entry
- Read and interpret schematics and manuals
- Experience operating heavy equipment including track bulldozer, track excavator, self-propelled scraper, motor grader and water truck is preferred
