About Asarco Grupo Mexico ASARCO LLC is a subsidiary of one of the world's largest Copper producers, Grupo Mexico, which ranks third in the United States in Copper production. ASARCO LLC is a fully integrated miner, smelter, and refinery of copper in the United States with over 2,800 employees spanning across 4 sites in Arizona. We are looking for motivated students with a strong interest in the mining industry. Our internship program is 10 weeks long, in which you will receive important industry training and get involved in meaningful real-world projects like planning a program, designing a process, or implementing technology. The culmination of your program will include an opportunity to present your work to management at ASARCO & Grupo Mexico.
Duties: - Work to improve KPI reporting using Minesight outputs
- Audit teams on use of the Minesight system
- Work with drill and blast to scientifically track multiple variables in test shots
- Catalogue and scan drawings
- Assist mine technicians with mine duties
- Sample blast holes
- Paint ore control lathes and hole location rooster tails
- Assist surveyor in staking ore control and blast hole patterns.
Education Requirements & Preferred Certifications: - Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university on a full-time basis.
- Must be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate level.
- Must be majoring in Mining, Mining Engineering, Mining Technology, or closely related Engineering discipline
Knowledge & Skill Requirements: - Excellent organizational and interpersonal abilities.
- Time management skills in performing multiple projects with various team members.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively present findings and make recommendations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products

Schedule:8-hour shiftMonday to Friday
Duration:Requires at least a ten-week internship commitment between late-May and mid-August.
