Log in or register to view more details about this job.In this Mission Support Specialist (Generalist) role, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security individuals involved in planning and carrying out a wide variety of administrative, management and program planning activities, policy research and other duties related to the missions and functions of the Mission Readiness Operations Division.This position starts at a salary of $59,966.00 (GS-09, Step 1) to $77,955.00 (GS-09, Step 10) with promotion potential to $77,955.00 (GS-9 Step 10).GS Salary: Visit this link to view the locality pay tables by geographic area. Please visit this link to view special pay rate charts.As a Mission Support Specialist (Generalist), duties and responsibilities include:Assisting with conducting inventories, record management, and preparing and processing various reports.Researching suppliers and working with requestors to procure goods and services and preparing required procurement documents for approval.Preparing local records management related to fleet management, providing support in the scheduling of vehicle maintenance and repairs.Applying methods, principles, and practices commonly used in workforce management to include staffing, managing tools and internal software, benefits, pay and Workers' Compensation.Coordinating facility repairs and ensuring requests are recorded into facilities management systems; participating in special studies and analytical projects related to current and proposed organization and program initiatives.Conditions of EmploymentYou must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this position.Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service.Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years (additional details below).You may be required to pass a background investigation.CBP follows the DHS Drug-Free Workplace Plan for drug testing procedures.As an employee of CBP, you will be joining a workforce that is dedicated to accomplishing our mission while maintaining the trust of our Nation by strictly adhering to all government ethics standards. Please review further details via the following link.QualificationsExperience: You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:Coordinating facility repairs and ensuring that requests are recorded into the facilities management system.Preparing local records management and assisting with producing various fleet reports.Gathering necessary information, and preparing briefing materials for the supervisor or other senior management officials.Assisting higher graded specialists and supervisor with managing base pay, premium pay, overtime, and leave entitlements and administration.Education Substitution:A Master's degree, two full years of graduate education, a J.D. or an LL.B. degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience required at this level. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise two years of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester or 54 quarter hours.Combining Education and Experience: To combine your education and experience, you must convert each to a percentage, and then add the percentages. The combined total of your percentage of education and experience must equal at least 100% in order to qualify. If your education is currently described in quarter hours, convert the quarter hours into semester hours by multiplying the quarter hours by the fraction 2/3. To calculate your percentage of graduate education, divide the number of graduate semester hours by 18. To determine your percentage of qualifying experience, you must divide your total number of months of qualifying experience by the required number of months of experience. Add your percentages of education and experience. The two percentages must total at least 100%. Only graduate education may be used to qualify at the GS-09 grade level.Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
