SUMMARY: The Mobile Wastewater Operator is responsible for serving the New Jersey service area. In this role, you will monitor and adjust various treatment processes to ensure compliance with all relevant permits and regulatory requirements. The operator will collect and document data and wastewater samples from assigned facilities. Additionally, the oeperator will perform preventative maintenance on equipment according to the operations and maintenance manuals for the contracted facilities. The ideal candidate is an independent, well-organized self-starter, capable of managing their schedule to meet site coverage requirements as outlined.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform critical testing of facility operations, such as PH, dissolved oxygen, chlorine, etc., in order to monitor system condition
  • Complete Discharge Monitoring Reports as required by facilities permits
  • Perform general preventative maintenance on treatment plant equipment such as blower oil, filter and belt changes and pulling and inspecting submersible pumps, etc. (Further defined below in addendum A)
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all phases of facility operations
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible records of all equipment and plant maintenance
  • Assist to prepare monthly written operating report based on facility's operation and/or maintenance records for the client, employer or regulatory agency as required
  • Inform Supervisor in a timely manner of plant problems, upsets, plant expansion, repairs, etc.
  • Work conscientiously, adhere to EH&S policies and processes, and be aware of and report safety hazards
  • Required to be part of a 24 hour on call rotation
  • Be prepared to discuss in a professional manner the plant operations with employer, client, visitors or regulatory personnel
  • Collect required samples, log in samples correctly and accurately, and submit samples to laboratory and review results to ensure permit compliance
  • Operate plants to meet all regulatory guidelines and responsibilities
  • Assist maintenance personnel with pump, blower, motor, valve, etc. removal
  • Maintain accurate records for gasoline, mileage, timesheets, expenses, etc.
  • Work scheduled weekends and occasional holidays for assigned route
  • Project a positive image to operators, clients, regulatory agencies, engineers, etc.
  • Confined Space Entry - this may be required on occasion after thorough training provided by NSU
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1 year of wastewater experience, preferred but, not required
  • 40-hour work week: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30 pm (30 minute lunch)
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as requested
  • Overtime as required
  • Available for emergency situations
  • Available for a 24 hour on call rotation
  • Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
    • Valid Driver's License
    • New Jersey Water license preferred
    • Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook experience preferred
Monday- Friday 7:00am-3:30pm (30 minute lunch)40 hour work week; must be willing to work overtime as needed
