Job Description :

This position is responsible for assembling custom designed production forms to blueprint specifications. The form shop builds forms to exacting standards to assure dimensionally correct final product and quality finishes. The form shop sets the pace for the job flow in the shop, efficiency and consistent execution is key to keeping job flow progressing smoothly. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible, while working hands on, to follow the instruction of the form lead man to complete daily tasks on work schedule assuring production goals are met.
  • Responsible for the completed work at quality standards required.
  • Assist with the building of all custom and standard product forms to DEX by Gate procedures and standards including but not limited to:
    • Kitchen Countertops
    • Bath vanities and sinks
    • Bathtub surrounds
    • Commercial and residential bar tops
    • Exterior Cladding
    • Stair Treads
  • Reading and interpreting shop drawings correctly.
  • Building of all custom forms exactly to template and drawing specifications.
  • Ensuring tools and work are kept clean.
  • Maintains good housekeeping and follows safety policies and procedures at all times.
  • Performs additional duties as requested or required to include assisting in other areas of the plant.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Mold building experience in a similar filed preferred but not required.
  • Experience with carpenter tools including but not limited to: hand tools, drills and saws.
  • Knowledge of basic measurements and how to read a tape measure.
  • Understand and can apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, multiplication and division).
  • All forms to have proper edge details as per drawings or specs:
    • Eased edge must be 1/8 radius nominal
    • Seam edge must be tight as possible but sealed with silicone
    • Seams MUST be square, flat and straight
    • Decorative edge such as ogee must be created with form material that will impart finish comparable to main product surface.
  • All silicone must be laid only where required, leaving balance of form free of excess. No silicone residue should be left adjacent to intended application such as in eased edges or seams
  • All silicone applications meant to form radius must be smooth and form smooth transition between intersecting edges
  • All forms must be structurally sound and able to withstand forces generated during vibration and from column forces of tall form walls
  • Forms must be designed for easy disassembly
  • Forms must be free of any blemishes for cast product
  • Terrazzo forms must be built to accommodate grind allowance as specified in red jacket
  • All red jacket details must be followed and management must be consulted when details are missing
  • Templates must be used and override drawing dimensions unless otherwise noted
  • Must be able to use hand tools, saws, drills and other tools safely while performing mold build tasks.
  • Must be detailed oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Experience in similar concrete related industry desired
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced environment.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Ability to work as a team player and communicate effectively.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, twist, walk.
  • Must be able to use various hand tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance on elevated surfaces; and stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant and continual medium to heavy manual, physical labor is required for this position.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as work boots, hard hats, work gloves, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • This is an indoor/outdoor work environment: Exposure to sun, heat, humidity, cold, wind, light rain, sand, and dust.
