Job Description :
At Monoflo International, the role of a Mold (Tool) Technician is crucial for the success of our Tooling Group, which supports our Production Group by maintaining and servicing injection molds. The Mold Technician is responsible for the accurate diagnosis, repair, and assembly of injection molding tools (molds) in the plastic molding industry. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform efficient assembly and disassembly of injection molding tools (molds)
  • Read and understand diagrams (symbols) to accurately measure, assemble, fit inserts, connect water circuits, air circuits, hydraulic circuits
  • Diagnosis root cause of issues related to ejector system, air, water, and hydraulics
    • Hydraulics include cylinders, hoses, fittings, seals, and mold staubli
    • Water system includes flow channel, plugs, baffles, fittings, clips, hose and seals
    • Air system includes valves, cylinders, seals, fittings, and hoses
    • Ejector system includes plates, pins, cores, slides, guides, etc.
  • Identify mold defects that cause flash, short shot, gate vestige, and other abnormalities
  • Measure wall thickness and diagnosis fill imbalance or core/cavity placement
  • Conduct repairs of related systems and mold defects identified
  • Use a variety of measuring devices to obtain critical dimensions
  • Use a variety of hand tools and machining equipment
  • Perform basic machining and welding
  • Read and understand mold markings for water, air, and hydraulics
  • Work with cold runner and hot runner systems
  • Perform verification tests during assembly process to confirm fit and proper sealing
  • Perform insert (configuration) changes as scheduled
  • Obtain crane certification to use rigging equipment to move molds
  • Inform the Tooling Manager of questions and concerns regarding any task assigned
  • Follow safety programs when operating equipment and use PPE
Equipment you will work with:
  • Surface Grinder
  • Hand polishing
  • Dry Ice Cleaning Equipment
  • Mig and Tig welders, Micro welder for those interested in welding
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3 Years experience maintaining injection molding tools (molds)
  • Understanding of mold materials (steel, aluminum, beryllium copper)
  • Basic machining and welding skills
  • Basic injection molding knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of fluid systems (hydraulic, air, water)
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management to meet target dates
