Job Description :

Labcorp is seeking a full-time Clinical Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the Molecular Genetics and Genomics department at MNG Laboratories in Atlanta, GA. MNG provides diagnostic tests such as whole genome and whole exome analyses and NGS panels for genetic conditions with a focus on neurological disorders. The molecular department interacts with MNG's neurochemistry department as well as Labcorp's extensive network of specialty laboratories. The work schedule for this position will be: 2nd shift Monday-Friday 12:00pm-8:00pm with rotating weekends.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical or biological science that meets CLIA and State requirements with at least 5 years of clinical lab testing experience.
  • Master's degree in a chemical, physical or biological science that meets CLIA and State requirements with at least 3 years of clinical lab testing experience.
  • MD licensed/PhD licensed that meets CLIA and State requirements with 2 years of clinical lab testing experience.
  • Experience in Molecular clinical lab testing is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASCP certification in Molecular Biology is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role is preferred.
  • NGS testing experience is highly preferred.
  • 5 years of recent clinical lab testing experience is preferred. Recent meaning within the last 5-7 years.

Technical Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine laboratory and extraction procedures as needed.
  • Supervise Molecular Laboratory personnel.
  • Training and competency of Molecular Laboratory personnel.
  • Monitor the performance of all molecular testing and extraction procedures.
  • Perform troubleshooting for molecular and extraction procedures and equipment.
  • Documentation and review of quality control records (assay and extraction paperwork, temperature/equipment logs, etc.)
  • Oversee validation of new test methods/instrumentation/reagents.
  • Comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, EGL/LC EHS policies / procedures and the requirements of accrediting organizations.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Review/revise standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform Technical File binder review.
  • Ensure that all techs complete 12 credit hours of Continuing Education (CEUs) per calendar year.
  • Schedule laboratory personnel.
  • Track and trend key performance indicators.
  • Coordinate Proficiency Testing and Concordance Testing.
  • Participate in Quality System activities; initiate Change Controls, QEs, etc.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping for all direct reports.
  • Prepare and deliver performance appraisals.

EHS Responsibilities:

  • Complete all required EHS training.
  • Wear appropriate PPE as required.
  • Conduct work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
