Responsibilities Documents EKG rhythms, EKG measurements, and EKG changes in the patient record. Completes daily checks to ensure that telemetry transmitter boxes are functional and accounted for. Maintain constant communication with primary RN and articulate wave patterns using appropriate medical terminology. Trouble shoot with RN regarding lead wires off, electrode and battery changes, and proper lead placement to ensure optimal rhythm configuration on the telemetry monitor. Monitor and record physiological measurements including obtaining six second strip as indicated by patient condition. Maintains and cleans equipment and supplies. Assists in Code Blues, cardioversion, and reprogramming of pacemakers by running monitor strips as appropriate. Notify BioMed of all malfunctions and problems with equipment as soon as possible. Notifies Spacelab technical support with clinical access issues. Displays knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the heart in relation to waves, complexes, time and voltage as shown through the conduction system and strip interpretation. Demonstrates knowledge of cardiac rhythms, measurement of PR, QRS, QT, ST segments, and correct lead placement. Communicates and listens effectively with internal and external customers including patients/visitors, RNs, and physicians; effectively understands instructions and shares knowledge. Cooperates and interacts with supervisors, peers, other departments, and all customer groups demonstrating our commitment to “service”. Qualifications Job Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Telemetry Certification or ability to obtain certification CPR/BLS certification CBO; Medical Terminology Preferred Job Requirements: Associates degree in related field One (1) year in specialty area, rhythm recognition skill set
