Job DescriptionPrimary PurposeTo experience Mountaire's culture first-hand and provide additional exposure of Mountaire's family-oriented work environment. Fulfill all designated duties within each specialized area of operation for the duration of the internship. This program is intended to provide learning opportunities by working hands-on with mentors and completing assigned projects. Mountaire Farms is offering a unique opportunity for a Summer Intern to join our Mountaire Cares department. This internship will provide hands-on experience in community outreach, event planning, and operations auditing. The selected intern will work closely with the Director of Mountaire Cares and department managers to help improve our community engagement efforts and support those in need. Primary Project
  • Conduct site visits to community partners managing food pantries and soup kitchens.
  • Utilize the established audit process to evaluate food pantries, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess the current state of the pantry and identify potential areas for expansion or improvement.
  • Provide recommendations for enhancing partnerships and community outreach efforts.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of Mountaire Cares summer events, including:
    • Faith and Family Nights (Delmarva and NC locations)
    • Fall Rock the Block events
  • Plan and organize the annual intern and administrative 3 C's event.
  • Work with the Director and fellow managers to develop and execute your own event, gaining leadership and project management experience.
  • Collaborate with nonprofit partners to strengthen relationships and identify new partnership opportunities.
  • Assist with preparing HR-related reports as needed.
  • Participate in volunteer event planning and logistics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Director of Mountaire Cares or department managers.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
  • Completes assigned tasks identified by department mentor.
  • Attends semi-monthly seminar series.
  • Completes and presents summer project presentation.
  • Completes internship evaluations at weeks 5 and 10.
  • Follows all company safety policies, standard operating procedure (SOP) regulations, as well as supports the Goal Zero mission statement.
  • Qualifications
    • Must be currently enrolled and pursuing an Associate or Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university.
    • Valid Driver's license.
    • Must pass the Mountaire Motor Vehicle Record check.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
    • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills.
    • Strong organizational and strategic thinking abilities.
    • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Open and empathetic approach to leadership and teamwork.
