Please contact Human Resources if you require an accommodation.BASIC FUNCTION:Industry Communications & Marketing Manager will report to the AVP work closely with the SVP of MPTV, and VP/Executive Director. This role will design, develop and deliver communication, events and businesses development programs and initiatives that align with New York State Governor's Office of Motion Picture & Television Development, a part of Empire State Development mission; namely supporting, fostering and growing film and tv production across NYS. Support the implementation and administration of new and existing programs relating to the growth of the motion picture and television production industries, post-production industries and theater industries across NYS. Assist with, coordinate, and lead various projects and programs.WORK PERFORMED:
- In collaboration with colleagues, facilitate industry communications and social media, strategically promoting and marketing NYS, reacting to changes in the industry and public.
- Point person on social channels. Generate image-based materials. Drafting, seeking approval, and posting as strategic and relevant.
- Execute and prepare recurring newsletter. Manage contacts in Mailchimp, Dynamics and relevant CRMs
- Manage virtual webinars and meetings via Zoom, Webex etc.
- Develop talking points, briefings, presentations, correspondence, communications, and other materials as requested
- Conduct research in support of program execution
- Compile and track nominations and awards of NYS and industry leading projects
- As assigned, provide ongoing support to industry and community stakeholders via phone and email
- Prepare and update reports and spreadsheets of key industry stakeholders and other projects as needed
- As needed, manage and updated website, marketing materials, and office's listing in other external web publications
- Monitor industry trends and developments to identify industry issues and developments requiring leadership/agency/NYS attention. As directed, participate in the daily tracking of industry news developments
- As directed, participate in strategic partnerships within relevant industries, including but not limited to the office's engagement with film festivals
- Participate in internal planning to develop project policies and best practices
- As directed, participate in external events across NYS
- Actively participate in discussions involving policy vision and crisis management solutions
- Draft correspondence, responding on behalf of the office to inquiries from industry stakeholders, the public, and state government colleagues. Track correspondence through shared mailbox as needed
- Provide daily updates as needed for Managing and Executive Director maintaining ongoing communication to further collaboration, direction and supervision.
- Think strategically and problem solve by actively contributing to discussions and the execution of long-term policy visions and short-term crisis management
- Other duties as directed by management
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education level required:Bachelor's degree preferably, political science, government, international relations, business development and film/TV/Media.Relevant experience required: 5+ years. Preferred candidates should have some of the following skills: Experience with public policy analysis. Excellent formal, media, and strategic writing. Familiarity with film/tv/theater production and/or post-production. Experience working in a government setting. Familiarity with New York State. Experience with project collaboration. Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills a must. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills desired. Must be able to work well collaboratively and independently, must be energetic, with a pleasant demeanor. Must be able to work M-F 9-530, hybrid schedule, and additional off hours/local travel as needed.
