The ideal Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician is a self-motivated, skilled hourly professional with working knowledge of electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and a foundation in the skills needed to properly maintain manufacturing equipment.

Requirements:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: (Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Being able to perform all maintenance activities related to his/her assigned action area, including planned tasks regarding predictive and preventive maintenance.
  • Applying problem solving skills to reduce the consequences of failure.
  • Must be a team player and willing to share and encourage other members
  • Taking initiative and actively participating in problem analysis, identification of root causes and suitable permanent solutions.
  • Creating improvement proposals and executing tasks resulting from improvement proposals.
  • Completing administrative tasks using the Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Supporting operators by providing training.
  • Applying her/his maintenance experience and competence.
  • Responding to and resolving maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
  • Actively troubleshooting maintenance issues and tasks to ensure proper and timely resolution.
  • Installing and aligning new equipment
  • Maintaining accurate maintenance logs including labor hours and critical preventative maintenance findings
  • Working with the operations and maintenance team to identify and prioritize maintenance needs
  • Helping meet or exceed production and quality goals while optimizing equipment to reduce waste
  • Adhering to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies and procedures and actively participating in the safety program
  • Application of simple problem-solving methods such as 5Y to reduce and eliminate failures
  • Ability to learn and practice Electrical and Instrumentation skills
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and overtime when needed

Required Education and/or Experience (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

The Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician will execute maintenance tasks, which require an in-depth technical knowledge of automated equipment. The technician will troubleshoot, and repair complex equipment breakdowns involving mechanical and electrical aspects of machinery, analyze failures or equipment technical loss causes, and make or suggest improvements as needed, all while:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D
  • Proven experience and technical knowledge in a highly automated manufacturing environment
  • 2 years of experience and technical knowledge in the areas of industrial electrical, including controls and mechanical maintenance of equipment
  • Proficient in both electrical and mechanical knowledge and abilities
  • Basic hand/power tool familiarity
  • The ability to read and interpret manufacturing specifications or work instructions
  • Knowledge of and experience with industrial electricity, mechanics, refrigeration, vaccum, hydraulics, and/or pneumatics in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office, email), including knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
  • Pumping system maintenance experience
  • Conveyor system maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and program PLCs (experience with Siemens is a plus)
  • Experience with AC/DC drives
  • Detail-Oriented, strong communication skills and positive attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year-college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Possession of valid driver's license.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly required to lift and/or move, push or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally required to lift and/or move, push or pull up to 50 pounds without assistance and up to 100 pounds or more with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
