Municipal Facilities Custodian - Town of Westwood : Job Details

MUNICIPAL FACILITIES CUSTODIAN - EVENING SHIFT The Town of Westwood seeks a responsible and reliable individual to carry out the duties of Municipal Facilities Custodian during the 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM shift. The purpose of this position is to perform general custodial/maintenance work to maintain a safe and functional environment in and around all municipal buildings and facilities under the authority of the Department of Public Works. Qualifications: Commercial cleaning experience desirable; basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical and carpentry trades; and general knowledge of lawn maintenance and related equipment. Three years of experience in custodial and/or maintenance work. Valid Class D motor vehicle operator's license. Responsibilities include the following:

• Carry out a variety of custodial and maintenance functions in the Town's municipal buildings, such as: stripping, waxing, vacuuming and shampooing floors/carpets; cleaning woodwork, windows and dusting furniture; painting, carpentry and electrical work.
• Maintain grounds, including mowing lawns, pruning and watering shrubs, raking/removing leaves.
• Disinfect restrooms; empty trash containers and remove rubbish; process recycling materials.
• Perform intermittent checks of the HVAC systems and alert the Facilities Director about any issues.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a Custodial Procedures Manual; ensure guidelines for cleaning are followed and public areas are clean and free of hazards.
• Prepare meeting space for special events, including setting up tables, chairs, etc.; disassemble after event.
• Clear walkways and entrances around municipal buildings; snow removal, as required. Assist with snow and/or debris removal during weather emergencies which may require work outside normally scheduled hours.
• Complete custodial functions according to a prescribed schedule and in a timely manner. Respond to immediate custodial needs regarding safety and sanitary concerns.

Salary and Benefits: Annual salary range is $47,641 - $59,496 in ten steps, plus a $1.00 per hour differential for evening shift.
