Klamath CountyJob Announcement *** This posting will close at 8 am on Friday, January 24th with periodic reviews of applications ***Job Title: Museum Aide (Part time/On call)Salary: $14.16 - $15.46 per hourThe Klamath County Museum is on the lookout for a Museum Aide to join our team. We're looking for an outgoing individual to provide guided tours to the public and offer clerical support for Museum staff. Some of your daily responsibilities will include serving as a receptionist, managing accounting records, coordinating school and group tours, and working with volunteers. If you enjoy working with the public, have strong organizational skills, and are passionate about local history, we encourage you to apply. This part time position offers a friendly work environment and the chance to contribute to the community.The Ideal CandidateOur Museum Aide possesses excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and is very comfortable speaking before groups. Basic math skills and familiarity with word processing software are necessary. You're a detail-oriented individual with great organization skills and capable of handling multiple tasks. Experience in customer service or clerical work, and a passion for history or museums, is a plus.Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a receptionist or counter clerk, answering inquiries and providing information about the Museum Complex and local area.
  • Conduct guided tours of the museum(s) using a provided script.
  • Post, balance, and maintain manual and computerized accounting records, including cash deposits and petty cash.
  • Complete accession files by cataloging materials and gifts as directed by the Museum Director.
  • Coordinate school tours and group tours, working with school coordinators and various groups.
  • Act as a liaison between volunteers and museum staff, reporting needs and issues.
  • Work with volunteers on tour guide training and scheduling.
  • Prepare forms, reports, memos, and other materials, sometimes using a computer or typewriter.
  • File documents, prepare files, and conduct file and record searches as needed
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
