Job Description :
The Hunter Museum of American Art, whose mission is to engage diverse audiences in active dialogues about the importance, meaning, and relevance of American Art, seeks a part-time Museum Attendant to help ensure maximum security of employees, guests, and artwork at all times. This position monitors day-to-day security program operations, responds to emergent situations, and reports on regulatory and policy compliance.Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with the Security Lead and Operations Manager to implement and manage museum policies, programs and procedures ensuring a safe, clean, and service friendly environment for guests and staff.
  • Provide emergency response to visitors or employees within organizational guidelines
  • Ensure delivery of excellent guest service experiences and maintenance of an environment that protects and safeguards the artwork and museum campus.
  • Assist with the cleanliness of galleries, restrooms, and hard services
  • Participate in regular training sessions, emergency drills, all-staff meetings, and gallery training.
  • Partner with the Special Events and Facilities teams to assist with both internal and external events including setup, breakdown, and cleaning of museum.
  • Conduct daily checks of all exhibits and artwork and monitor building temperatures.
  • Serve as a daily liaison with outside security monitoring company ADT, police, and fire departments.
  • Open and close the museum, set alarms, and answer alarms during normal business hours.
  • Must be compliant with State of Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance Private Protective Security Guard licensing requirements.
  • Requirements
    • High School diploma or GED preferred
    • Minimum of two years of experience in a service industry position, security experience preferred
    • Experience with security, access control systems, applications, and alarm systems preferred
    • Must hold or be willing to obtain Private Protective Security License
    • Must hold or be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification
    • Excellent customer service and observational skills
    • Problem solving skills
    • Basic computer skills
    • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time; some stooping and lifting
