Music Director for Elementary School Theater Productions

Time Period: 1/7-5/16 2024

Time Commitment:

• 4 month rehearsal process, ~50 hour commitment
• Rehearsals are 3:00-4:45 on select Tuesdays and occasional Thursdays on the Upper west side
• Compensation: $2,500

Requirements:

Columbia Grammar is seeking an experienced Music Director for our May 2025 production ofThe Music Man Kids (30 min production). The ideal candidate will have experience teaching music to elementary school kids (4th and 5th grade).

Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties will include teaching music to “The Music Man” including for individuals, small groups and full-ensemble. You'll be working with 4th and 5th grade performers with a wide variety of experience (including none). A successful candidate will have excellent time and classroom management skills, a strong understanding of grammar school behavioral and learning styles, and an ability to teach music for a range of abilities. Music rehearsals will run 1-2 hours and will occur 1-2 times per week prior to tech & performance weeks.

We will also have some zoom production meetings leading up to rehearsals.

Auditions will be the week of December 9th and will need availability that week. (that's included in the 50 hour commitment)
