Job DescriptionMusic Ensemble Instructor, After SchoolStart Date: Late August, 2025 Wage: 70/hr-100/hrSchedule: number of days per week and specific hours to be determined. After School programming happens between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM Monday through Friday, but the specific days and hours of the music lessons will be determined based on need and availability. The specific ensemble will depend on your specialty area and the needs of the program. This position will report to the Auxiliary Team leadership. The role will prepare and teach lessons to children in grades 5 through 8.Responsibilities
  • Teaching small group music lessons to children in 5th through 8th grade. The ensemble taught will depend on the needs of the school and your specialty area. Popular ensembles include rock band and string ensemble but others could be taught depending on applicant specialty area and program needs.
  • Creating a sequence of music lessons that build student proficiency in an ensemble. Provide documentation of curriculum and lessons to the Auxiliary Team leadership
  • Setting learning goals for students and providing updates to families and the Auxiliary Team leadership on student progress. Updates to parents may involve emails, phone calls, or in person conversations.
  • Ensuring rooms and materials are ready for lessons to start on time.
  • Establish and enforce rules for behavior for students that aligns with the school's progressive approach to children.
  • Attend some evening concerts or performances as needed.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • A bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with children, preferably in teaching music lessons
  • A deep knowledge and expertise in the instruments taught
  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Warmth, humor, flexibility, and optimism
