Position: Music Group Leader

Music group leader supports course and classroom Music Instruction for education youth K-5 or 6th-8th grade, in focused centered classroom structure. Music Group Leaders will support the Program Instructors in instruction of music applications supporting different aspects of music, vocal and music creations. Group Leaders Support Teaching and supervision.

Hourly Rate: $15.00-$20.00RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among the students for whom they are responsible.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
  • Prepare materials and classrooms for class activities.
  • Progressive development of student skills leading to a final project.
  • Provide support during academic/homework hour.
  • Promote positive character development in all youth.
  • Set teaching goals for students.
  • Provide a fun, encouraging, and disciplined atmosphere.
  • Be able to control and motivate groups of pupils.
  • Demonstrate leadership, dependability, patience, and concern for others.
  • Communicate course information to students and parents.
  • Provide structure of Lesson Planning and curriculum enhancement.
  • Attend occasional instructor meetings.
  • Communicate requested information to the Artistic Director in a timely manner.
  • Track student attendance, including late arrival and early departure to address any concerns.
  • Have an understanding of health and safety.
  • Follow administrative and governmental safety and personnel policies, procedures, and ordinances.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum education level: Associates Degree in music education or music performance (preferred).
  • Minimum of Two to Three years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience in youth development.
  • Certifications and credentials in respective skill-based activity highly preferred.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:
  • Basic music, instrumentation.
  • Profound understanding of music, genres, modalities.
  • The ability to illustrate and present musical ideas.
  • The ability to project in front of a group of students.
  • The ability to implement 'STEAM' based structure.
  • Teamwork and leadership skills required.
  • Class management skills required.
  • Initiative, flexibility, patience, and creativity.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere (i.e., ability to communicate well with other instructors).
