As Nassau County - Sr. Public Health Specialist (Communicable Disease, TB) you are responsible for working with the Nassau County Health Department to provide specialized professional services related to public health and designated focus area. This position will support Public Health Infrastructure activities in Nassau County, NY. Position Specific Responsibilities The Sr. Public Health Specialist will conduct interviews to obtain tuberculosis case-related information. The role of the Sr. Public Health Specialist (Communicable Disease, TB) may include:

  • Provide education, consultation, and technical assistance on interview techniques, records, and quality control and serve as a subject matter expert, as needed.
  • Establish rapport and communication with healthcare providers, hospitals, and FQHCs to promote appropriate TB treatment.
  • Oversee data entry and updates to patient records.
  • Oversee testing support for TB patients including immigrants, pregnant people, and other high-risk individuals. This may include case management.
  • Work closely with the NCDOH Division of Community Outreach and Education to development of programs, developing and directing programs, supervising employees, developing, and managing budgets, marketing programs to the public and community leaders, and collaborating with Nassau County community organizations, particularly focusing on TB education.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
This position is located on site at the Nassau County Health Department. Qualifications This position is intended to perform specialized/supervisory duties, such as serving as a subject matter expert, leading small teams, or providing other management services.
  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree is required. Experience in clinical medicine and/or public health a plus.
  • At least three years of supervisory/management experience within a health, public health, education, human services, or community-based organization, or institutional setting.
  • Strong relationships and experience working in a health system in NYS. This includes but is not limited to hospitals, health care providers, health regulatory organizations, community resources, social services or schools in NYS.
  • Experience planning, directing and overseeing the work of others.
  • A flexible, adaptive, and composed attitude with the ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Critical thinking and sound judgment required.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Experience leading tracking and reporting processes.
  • Proficiency with computers including data entry into electronic tracking systems and running summary reports.
  • Phenomenal work ethic with a positive attitude.
  • Employment is contingent on completion of a background check by NY State.
  • Must be a NYS resident with familiarity of NYS geography; cities/towns/locations.
  • Preference given to those who live within commuting distance to the official work location.
  • Must own telephone, computer, wireless internet (WiFi) and electronic equipment. Must have access to a working PC with Windows 10, Antivirus Protection: Windows Defender and Windows Firewall; or Mac with Apple OS X 10.13, Antivirus Protection: Sophos; and personal mobile device to use for this job.
Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by applicable law, SSO provides a reasonable range of compensation for this role. In addition, SSO provides a range of benefits for this role.
