Our client is seeking a highly skilled Navigation Test Director (NAVCERT) for an exciting and challenging role focused on navigation system certifications (NAVCERT) for U.S. Navy ships. This position requires an active Secret Clearance and entails approximately 60% travel, primarily based in Norfolk, VA. The NAVCERT will work with the Navigation Systems in Service Engineering Activity (ISEA) and play a crucial role in ensuring the performance and reliability of navigation systems on naval vessels.The ideal candidate will conduct both dockside and at-sea tests, analyzing collected data to identify and resolve any installation, technical, or procedural issues. This role involves providing expert guidance to address navigation system interface challenges with other shipboard systems and assisting in the development and updating of essential documentation and procedures. As a technical representative, the NAVCERT will travel to sponsor sites to conduct field tests, interpret field data, and serve as a liaison with industrial and governmental stakeholders.Key responsibilities also include preparing status, progress, and final reports that detail the results of field experiments and inspections. The NAVCERT will light off, configure, test, troubleshoot, and operate primary systems and peripheral equipment to support various projects. Additionally, verifying the functionality of newly installed equipment and evaluating system performance under actual operating conditions are crucial aspects of this role. Continuous professional development regarding new technologies and systems relevant to ongoing and future projects is expected.Candidates should have a strong background in U.S. Navy navigation equipment and systems, with at least eight years of hands-on experience across key areas such as systems requirements, operational requirements, test and evaluation, and training. A recognized expert status in navigation systems, demonstrating industry and public service leadership, is essential for success in this role. The Navigation Test Director will also be responsible for training lower-level technicians and providing input for proposals and Statements of Work to project managers, ensuring the highest standards of efficiency, safety, and quality in all test procedures and processes.Base salary, $85 - $120K.
