Under general supervision, sets up and operates Numerical Control (N/C) equipment safely and efficiently in order to manufacture parts, precision tools, jigs, fixtures, and assemblies. Works from blueprints and written instructions. Has basic knowledge of N/C terms, cutting and measuring tools, and their proper application.
What you will do:
* Under supervision, sets up and operates N/C to machine complex parts. Works on blueprints and follows program readouts. Works to finish requirements and tolerances. Selects specified cutting tools and makes adjustments.
* Observes performance of tools and makes necessary changes and adjustments, including tool offsets. May receive occasional guidance from Group Leader and higher-level machinists.
* Constantly monitors proper operation of machine and quality of parts. Uses measuring and inspection equipment such as micrometers, scales, verniers, calipers, and depth gauges to check parts to specification with assistance from supervision and higher-level machinists.
* Performs secondary operations such as drilling and deburring if machine cycle permits extra activities.
* Kept tools, work area, and equipment in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.
