The Berkeley College Information Systems Department has an opening for a Network Administrator on the Infrastructure Team. This position is based out of the Woodland Park campus but limited travel to other campuses is required. The candidate will provide network implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of infrastructure LAN and SDWAN technologies at a high level. The candidate will be responsible for network projects based on business productivity and security using Cisco and PaloAlto technologies while scheduling, updating, and documenting the process along the way, as well as handling long-term network projects while troubleshooting day-to-day issues and completing both in a timely and professional manner. Responsibilities:
- Provide Network support to all Berkeley College Students, Faculty, and Staff through a ticketing system.
- Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS)
- Interface with Network vendors and assist with coordinating efforts to complete projects including acquisition of technologies to improve and maintain the infrastructure.
- Implementing and troubleshooting Networking standards such as TCP/IP BGP, MPLS, ISIS, OSPF, QOS, EIGRP, DHCP, DNS and 802.11x
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
- Maximizes network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with team members for network optimization.
- Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
- Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
- Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
- Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's security policies.
- Daily monitoring of the IPS/IDS console and managing ongoing changes as necessary.
- Establishes networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.
- Secures network by enforcing policies; defining and monitoring access.
- Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Reporting network operational status by gathering, prioritizing information; managing projects.
- Participate in on-call rotation and working off hours to update infrastructure.
Job Location:Woodland Park, NJ Educational Requirements
- BS degree with minimum 5 years of experience working directly with complex network environments.
- CCNA and CCNP certifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Self-motivated to increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Ability to create/modify architectural and technical documents
- Working Knowledge of Windows and VMWare networking
- Familiarity with Cisco ISE and Cisco Prime and PaloAlto products.
- Experience with installing network infrastructure, including switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, cabling, UPS, and WAPs
- Practical knowledge of networking technologies and standards such as:
- LAN, WAN, WLAN and VPN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, RADIUS, SMTP, FTP, MPLS, Private WAN, Metro Ethernet, Broadband ISP access, Ethernet ISP access, Routing protocols BGP, OSPR, EIGRP and QOS , IP sub-netting, routing and switching, address management, VLAN creation and management, ACL management.
