Job Summary:
The Network and Communications Technician plays a vital role in maintaining the College's data networks and unified communications systems, combining hands-on work with technical problem-solving. This two-year role involves installing, configuring, testing, and performing maintenance on network and phone system hardware, providing first-level technical support, and working closely with teams across the College to ensure stable/secure connectivity and effective communication. Ideal candidates are hands-on thinkers who enjoy physical tasks, troubleshooting, and ensuring reliable network and phone system performance.

Qualifications:
Education & Certifications: High school diploma or equivalent. An Associate's degree or technical certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA) are preferred but not required.
Experience: At least 2 years of general IT troubleshooting experience, which may include experience with phone systems or relevant experience gained through educational programs like BOCES, service desk, or similar technical training.
Skills: Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, excellent communication abilities, and enjoyment of hands-on, physical work.
Other Requirements: Meet the requirements to drive a college vehicle. Valid New York State driver's license (or ability to obtain one) and the ability to lift and carry equipment up to 60 pounds.
Work Environment:
The work environment is primarily indoors but involves physical tasks, such as lifting, bending, and kneeling to set up and maintain equipment. Some exposure to dust and other elements may occur when working in data closets or network areas.
This position is a two-year assignment, 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year.

Hiring Range:
$25 to $27 per hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
