Network / Customer Information System Administrator

DEPARTMENT: Information Technology

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00 pm (some flexibility on hours)

REPORTS TO: Information Systems Manager

Position Summary:

The Network/CIS Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure, customer information system (CIS), and associated technologies. This role ensures the security, reliability, and performance of the network, servers, and communication systems. Additionally, the position provides technical support, manages system access, and collaborates with various departments to develop and implement IT solutions. This position also contributes to the compliance and efficient operations of the District.

Network & System Administration:

  • Design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including routers, switches, servers, and network security protocols.
  • Manage virtual server and workstation environments.
  • Monitor server, security, and backup logs to ensure system integrity.
  • Perform data backups, configure backup jobs, test backup integrity, and recover lost data as needed.
  • Ensure adequate disk space and timely application of security updates.

Customer Information System (CIS) Administration:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the CIS, including system security, updates, troubleshooting, and project management.
  • Work with internal departments to support CIS functionality and optimize system performance.

User Access & Security Management:

  • Administer Active Directory by creating, disabling, and maintaining user accounts with appropriate access permissions.
  • Configure and enforce group policies to ensure compliance and security.
  • Manage Office 365 accounts and application access.
  • Administer access control systems by activating, deactivating, and modifying user access levels.

IT Support & Development:

  • Assist and back up the Computer Support Specialist in providing end-user support.
  • Develop and maintain SharePoint and PowerApps forms for improved internal workflows.
  • Manage mobile device management (MDM) systems and mobile device configurations.
  • Maintain and support the VoIP phone and call center system.
  • Research, recommend, and procure hardware and software to support IT infrastructure.

IT Inventory & Budget Management:

  • Maintain and update IT inventory and asset management systems.
  • Assist with the IT budget by tracking expenses and making recommendations for purchases.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Develop, revise, and maintain IT policies, procedures, and system documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, including safety and incident reporting requirements.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT network administration, system administration, or related role.

Licensing/Certifications:

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • MCSE Certification preferred.

Skilled In:

  • Establishing and maintaining effective, fair, cooperative, collaborative and respectful relationships with internal and external colleagues, peers, work teams and workgroups.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with customers and other employees in a courteous manner.
  • Experience with network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Proficiency in administering Active Directory, Group Policy, and Office 365.
  • Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience managing access control systems and IT security policies.
  • Proficiency with SharePoint, PowerApps, and mobile device management (MDM).
  • Familiarity with VoIP phone systems and call center solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

This job primarily operates in a climate-controlled environment but may also involve time spent in other facilities. Works with equipment such as computers, copy machines, phones, and faxes. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and reach for objects. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures. There is no regular travel expected for this position.

Pay Range: $77,064.00 - $96,220.80 per year
