Job Description We are looking for a Senior IT Network Engineer for a long term consulting assignment with a global financial services firm in NYC. The person will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company's network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in network engineering, with expertise in both wired and wireless networks. Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and manage complex network architectures, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend network technologies and tools to enhance performance, security, and reliability.
  • Configure and optimize network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Troubleshoot network issues and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
  • Monitor network performance and security, and implement proactive measures to prevent downtime and breaches.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate network solutions with other IT systems and applications.
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior network engineers and IT staff.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide support for network emergencies outside of regular business hours.
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering roles.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP).
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware and software, such as Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, and Aruba.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices, including firewall configuration, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools, such as SolarWinds, Nagios, or PRTG.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications, such as CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent, are preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
