Position: Network Engineer

Location: Hybrid (Remote/In-Person at 1430 Maryland Ave E, Saint Paul, MN 55106)

Schedule: Minimum 2 days onsite per week, including Monday or Friday

Contract Duration: January 15, 2025 – January 14, 2027 (with possible extensions)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support, maintain, and configure network equipment for a critical initiative involving state government departments and law enforcement agencies. This role requires expertise in Cisco networking, firewalls, load balancers, and network management tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform network system administration tasks to ensure availability, maintainability, and security.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot network hardware, including Cisco switches, wireless systems, and firewalls (Checkpoint, Palo Alto, F5 load balancers).
  • Execute configurations for Cisco ASA, CheckPoint, Palo Alto, and Catalyst 9300 switches to support Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS).
  • Develop and document processes to optimize service desk ticketing workflows.
  • Support and configure SolarWinds Orion, KIWI Syslog, and Savvius for network monitoring.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing procedures.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and documentation to stakeholders.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience with network hardware and software technologies.
  • Expert knowledge of Cisco hardware, including switches, VPN, and IOS.
  • Advanced understanding of TCP/IP protocols and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficiency with network testing tools such as Sniffers and protocol analyzers like Savvius OmniPeek.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst and 9300 switches, CheckPoint, and Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Familiarity with Network Quality of Service (QOS) techniques and network management systems.
  • Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN) solutions.
  • Proficiency in F5 Big IP (LTM, ASM, AFM, APM).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CJIS-compliant networking environments.
  • Knowledge of modern networking trends and best practices.
