Network Engineer
- Is a top-level technical contributor with advanced knowledge Data, Voice, Video, CATV and wireless networks, Cyber Security, Data Center technologies, Load Balancers, and Wide Area Network communication strategies
- Build standard configurations, templates, as-built documents and procedures to facilitate troubleshooting and provide knowledge transfer
- Maintain and establish network and device monitors to provide proactive alerts for assessing and making recommendations for improvement
- Diagnose and resolve complex technology, communication, application and performance issues using a variety of tools
- Ensure the enterprise environment is secure and the appropriate recovery and redundancy issues are addressed
- Participate in efforts responsible for the technical architecture and makes recommendations related to Data, Voice, Video, CATV and wireless networks, Cyber Security, Data Center Architectures, Load Balancers, and Wide Area Network communication strategies
- Author, review and maintain network technical documentation and library of functional specifications.
- Ensure Service Levels or Objectives are met or exceeded
- Design: Work with management, peers and vendors to design and implement hardware/software configurations, logical models, operational management models, and business continuity plans for systems under management
- Support: Work with management, peers and vendors to provide ongoing monitoring, performance tuning, implementation, and root cause analysis for systems under management
- Technical Writing: Creation and maintenance of troubleshooting and operational documentation for all systems under management. Authors and peer-reviews knowledgebase articles documenting fault root causes and their respective resolutions
- Training: Provide and receive cross-discipline training in order to ensure maximum availability of systems under management
- Communications: Communicate effectively verbally, and in written form. Carries and responds to off-hours communications device, in order to provide 24x7 support for systems under management.
- Continuous Improvement: Actively pursues opportunities, as an individual and as part of a group, to improve knowledge, tools and processes for systems under management
Minimum Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, and five years of experience as a Network Administrator providing support of enterprise communications infrastructure for a corporation of at least 3,000 employees.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge of local, wide area, enterprise networking and communications, major transport technologies and routing protocols, including OSPF and BGP
- Experience configuring routers, switches, firewalls and load balancers
- Experience in using diagnostic tools, protocol analyzers, SNMP and RMON based management software.
- Experience in reading, analyzing and interpreting documents and technical procedures
- Experience in authoring network designs including topologies, logical and physical communication strategies and protocol maps
- Working knowledge of Juniper, Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, A10 and ruckus networking devices preferred
- CCNP, CCIE certifications preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Visio and other design and documentation tools
