Network Field Technician for Telecommunications Company in San Leandro, CA A leading Bay Area telecommunications company is seeking a Network Field Technician to support the expansion and reliability of its state-of-the-art fiber optic network. The role involves hands-on management of a growing regional IP network, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of network equipment, as well as data center operations. The ideal candidate will have 1-5 years of Field Technician experience and familiarity with Juniper (or Nokia) is strongly preferred. The position is based in San Leandro, CA with responsibilities across several Bay Area data center locations. Responsibilities Participate in design, support, and implementation of multi-vendor networks (Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia, Juniper, PacketFront) spanning data centers, commercial properties, and residential locations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams for project and service delivery, such as client services, construction, and fiber operations. Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions to improve service quality, mean-time-to-service turn up, and technical support. Maintain internal standards documentation and create diagrams reflecting physical & logical network infrastructure. Build and enhance our proven data networking lab, platforms, and practice. Lead audits and advise on areas of improvement. Requirements 1-5 years of professional work experience in the telecommunications industry (or equivalent academic degree). Knowledge of network performance and routing protocols (e.g. IPv4 / IPv6, BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, etc.) Familiarity with data center racks (removing and installing equipment, and ensuring cables/wires are set up properly). Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal peers and external partners. Flexibility to support occasional evening and on-call needs for remote troubleshooting.
