We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Tower Permitting Specialist to join our team. This role involves preparing and submitting various entitlement applications, permits, and agreements to enable the installation of communication facilities on poles, towers, fiber, and other infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of municipal processes, codes, and ordinances, and will frequently interface with local governments and jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit zoning and permitting applications, monitoring progress and facilitating responses to jurisdictional requests.
- Collaborate with design teams to create and refine permit drawings and construction documents for towers, utilities, and ground equipment.
- Review jurisdictional redlines to differentiate requirements from preferences and negotiate as needed.
- Communicate zoning and permitting conditions of approval to internal teams and manage document uploads in line with defined processes.
- Serve as an entitlement lead during customer meetings, providing expertise on state, local, and federal telecommunication codes, including FCC Orders.
- Draft and deliver shot clock letters for compliance with federal legislation.
- Manage external SAQ vendors and ensure all permitting fees are paid and allocated correctly.
- Build and maintain relationships with municipal staff and officials, representing the company in public hearings and neighborhood meetings.
- Research and advise internal teams on zoning and permitting requirements, identifying risks and proposing solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Wireless industry experience preferred but not required.
- Zoning and permitting experience required.
- 2+ years of experience in Planning, Zoning, Land Use, or a related capacity within a municipality or the wireless industry.
- Experience navigating corporate environments and collaborating across teams.
- Comprehensive knowledge of planning and zoning codes affecting site development.
- Strong communication skills with experience presenting to public and governmental entities.
- Proficiency in interpreting construction plans, contracts, and title documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and problem-solve effectively.
- Detail-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Details The base pay range for this contract position is $32-42/hr, depending on experience. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
