The CDC Facilities Infrastructure is actively recruiting for an Information System Specialist 7. This position is available for current regular status employees (temporary and contract employees excluded) of the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Corrections Enterprise, or Oregon Board of Parole, Probation, and Post-Prison Supervision.

This position will be stationed at ODOC Central Services Office in Salem, Oregon but could require extensive travel to other facilities.

About the Job - Your Role

This position is strategically stationed to support the use of the Department's computer systems. This support includes but is not limited to planning and performing various tasks or projects to include designing, constructing, programming, troubleshooting, securing, and maintaining the horizontal cable/fiber, backbone cable/fiber, modems, LANs, and WANs within the Department. As a Networking Specialist you will provide installation, technical support, diagnostics and maintenance on multiple operating systems, multiple hardware configurations, applications software and peripherals in a non-standardized environment and multiple jurisdictions. You will work on an enterprise level supporting other state agencies who connect to the Department of Corrections WAN as well as stakeholders throughout the state; ensuring best business practices and the security of the network while continuing to modernize and optimize the Department's technology.

This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Minimum Qualifications:

Six (6) years of information systems experience in network hardware installation

OR

An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND four (4) years of information systems experience in network hardware installation

OR

A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field AND two (2) years of information systems experience in network hardware installation

OR

Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above

Requested Skills:

* Fiber installation/splicing

* Connecting/configuring security equipment to the LAN, WAN

* Strategic planning of LANs, WANs, and network security

* Network operations and integration

* Network troubleshooting and monitoring

* Current LEA license

* Knowledge of current security equipment along with integration into the LAN/WAN network

Requirements for Employment

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, there may be some felony convictions that could disqualify you for this position. However, having a felony record does not exclusively restrict you from being considered as an applicant. CJIS clearance is done at the conditional job offer.
