Location Description: Michael Foods, Inc. is located in Gaylord, Minnesota. This area is known for its healthy heartland and is situated about an hour west of the Twin Cities and 35 minutes from Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. Our facility produces a variety of high-quality egg products.

Starting Wage: $21.50/Hour

Shift Differential: $2.50/Hour

Hours: 6 PM - 6 AM

Position Summary: As a Night Shift Packaging Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products are packaged to meet our high standards of quality at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain tray packers, ensuring optimal loading and glue application.
  • Ensure video jet systems are clean, properly filled, and coding is legible.
  • Monitor shrink-wrap machines and replenish film as necessary.
  • Fill in for other operators during breaks and vacations as needed.
  • Check the legibility of date codes on master shippers and make corrections when needed.
  • Set up equipment and materials for production runs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Consistently adhere to attendance policies.
  • Follow safe work practices, including GMPs and sanitation standards.
  • Perform sanitation procedures in accordance with food safety standards, sometimes throughout the shift.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshoot equipment, including Elopack Fillers/Capers Scholle.
  • Utilize tablets to navigate operating systems for quality checks.
  • Follow instructions for ingredient mixing and calculations involving proportions and ratios.
  • Prioritize Food Safety and Food Quality for all products.
  • Complete other similar duties as assigned.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • 1-3 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with groups and individuals.
  • Ability to apply common sense and understand instructions in various formats.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills are preferred.
