Job Description: Western School Corporation Weekend/ Night Watchperson
Position Summary:
The Night Watchperson is responsible for maintaining the security and safety of the school
corporation's facilities during nighttime/weekend and holiday hours. This role requires vigilance,
attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly to any security or emergency situations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patrol Premises: Regularly patrol school buildings and grounds to deter and detect signs of
intrusion and ensure doors, windows, and gates are secure.
2. Monitor Security Systems: Operation may include monitor freezers, sump pump systems, and
other equipment.
3. Investigate and respond promptly to suspicious activities.
4. Access Control: Ensure unauthorized individuals do not enter the premises by monitoring
access points and verifying identification when necessary.
5. Incident Reporting: Document and report any security breaches, incidents, or maintenance
needs promptly and accurately. Via calling maintenance on call phone or Facility director
6. Emergency Response: Assist in emergency situations such as fire, medical emergencies, or
natural disasters by following established protocols and procedures.
7. Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with school administration, law
enforcement, and emergency services as needed.
8. Visitor Management: Monitor and manage any after-hours visitors or contractors, ensuring
they have proper authorization.
9. Lighting Checks: Ensure all exterior lighting is functioning properly and report any
deficiencies.
10. Safety Inspections: Conduct regular inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency exits, and
other safety equipment.
11. Hazard Reporting: Identify and report potential hazards on the premises to prevent
accidents and ensure a safe environment.
12. Customer Service: Provide assistance and support to staff, students, and visitors in a
courteous and helpful manner, ensuring a positive experience for all.
Qualifications:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal..
* Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
* Physical fitness to perform patrols and respond to emergencies.
* Must pass a background check and obtain any necessary certifications.
