The Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department of Middlesex College invites applications for part-time, non-credit instructors to teach the following course during the 2023-2024 Academic Year:
Important: Please note that a non-credit instructor is not an adjunct position. Successful candidates teach courses in the Workforce Development and Lifelong Learning Department. Primary Responsibilities: The ability to teach 120 hours (3 days a week for 3 hours in hybrid format), which includes the following subject areas:
- Psychological Development at all Life Stages
- Disease Characteristics, Signs, and Symptoms
- Treatment and Intervention modalities
- Skills: assisting with daily living; attending to patient behavior problems; assistance in crisis intervention; group facilitation; patient education; recreational activities; personal hygiene; vital signs
- Ethical Conduct, Patient Rights, and Cultural Competency
- Preparing student for industry certification exam
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current registration as a NJ Licensed Registered Nurse
- Previous teaching experience
- Experience teaching adult learners
- Three (3) years of experience working in the Mental Health field
- Ability to teach in Edison, New Brunswick, or Perth Amboy
- Ability to teach in both in-person and virtual formats
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience teaching in higher education
- Mental Health First Aid Instructor Certification
- Five (5) years of experience as In-patient mental health nurse
