Central Washington University is recruiting nonpermanent Skilled Trades/Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds positions to join our team. Depending on the position, this pool may consist of campus-based or remote locations. The salary, is dependent on experience and the position, plus the awesome CWU benefits.

The Role: CWU is accepting applications for individuals to perform Skilled Trades/Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds positions to work in various departments throughout campus and at all centers/sites. These positions are designated as nonpermanent hourly positions.

Job Summary

Each department will assign job duties specific to their needs. In general these positions may be used to fulfill temporary needs for Skilled Trades/Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds related duties such as:

* Boiler Operators

* Carpenters

* Electricians

* Floor Layers

* Painters

* Plumbers/Pipefitters/Steamfitters

* Other skilled trades/maintenance

* Grounds Operations

* Gardening maintenance

* Litter collection

* Raking leaves

* Mowing lawns

* Pulling weeds

* Setting irrigation pipe and sprinklers

* Using a variety of manual tools and equipment

* Custodial work

* Sweeping

* Mopping

* Dusting

* Vacuuming

* Making beds

* Washing windows, walls, and ceilings

* Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms

* Cleaning kitchens and dining rooms

* Setting up meeting rooms

* Laundry duties

Minimum Qualifications

Each department will have individual required qualifications for specific jobs. However, in general skilled trades/maintenance jobs require:

* Physical ability to do the required work

* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

* Valid Driver's License

* Prior experience, training and/or education

* Some positions may require additional licenses or certifications

Preferred Qualifications

* Each department will have individual preferred qualifications for specific jobs.

* Highlighting prior skilled trades/maintenance related experience and applicable education/training in your application materials will make your application stronger.

Pay & Work Schedule

Pay: Dependent on position classification and experience, this ranges from $17.40 per hour up to $40.00 per hour.

Schedule/Hours: Dependent upon departments needs.

Additional information: This announcement will be used to develop a pool of applicants for nonpermanent Skilled Trades/Maintenance/Custodial/Grounds positions through October 31, 2024. Selected applicants may be called on short notice to fill positions on an as-needed basis, however this posting does not imply that a position will be filled or any guarantee that applicants will be contacted.

Working Conditions: Outdoor work will include work in extreme seasonal temperatures and weather including, sun, rain and snow. Often requires standing/crawling/bending/walking/climbing while carrying/pulling/pushing/lifting associated with equipment or tools. May need to drive a service vehicle or equipment in congested areas.
