Our client, a community-based, multi-program social service non-profit, has an opportunity for a President to replace the retiring incumbent. The President will lead the organization and implement its strategic vision established by the Board. This executive will be responsible for fulfilling the mission and achieving the financial objectives, will be a strong fundraiser, and will be a visible and dynamic leader who will manage all organizational functions including operations, administration, finance, development, community outreach and public relations. This role reports to the Board of Directors, manages a staff of 70 employees with 5 direct reports, and oversees a budget of approximately $12 Million.

The President and Chief Executive Officer will:

• Work closely with the Board of Directors to shape the organization's strategic vision, direction and the fulfillment of its mission to ensure the organization's continued relevance and broad community involvement.

• Build strong relationships with the Board of Directors, community and partners.

• Be a key fundraiser and, together with the Board, plan strategic fundraising goals; partnering with the development team, develop and nurture existing and new donors and funding sources from the private and public sectors, including major individual gifts, foundations, endowments, planned giving programs and corporate sponsors.

• Be the face of the organization, acting as its primary spokesperson for increasing awareness of the organization and its services.

• Report regularly to the Board on progress in attaining its strategic vision goals; present well-reasoned options and recommendations to the Board for its consideration and action.

• Implement, as necessary, effective and appropriate reporting and control policies and procedures, and provide the Board of Directors with timely and accurate financial reports, annual budgets, multi-year strategic plans, and any other information that the Board may request or that otherwise may be helpful to the Board in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities.

• Be an inspirational leader and mentor to the staff with a genuine interest in their professional growth, development and attainment of their professional goals, while ensuring that they work cooperatively together to maximize their synergies.

• Be a tech-savvy leader who champions technology to improve marketing via web and social media, optimized operations, effective donor prospecting, human resources, costs and inventory control.

Requirements:

• A minimum of ten years' leadership experience in positions of increasing authority in not-for-profit management, fundraising and operations

• A Bachelor's degree required with a strong preference for an MBA or related advanced degree

• Extensive and successful fundraising experience including major gifts, individual and planned giving, and special events

• Experience securing federal, state, and foundation grants is a plus

• Sound business acumen acquired through successful management, fundraising, financial, and operational experience

• Experience working effectively with a committed Board of Directors

• An accomplished strategic and motivational leader with a record for building teams and leading strategic initiatives

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate compellingly and effectively both one-on-one and with large audiences across diversified social, economic, cultural, geographic and professional backgrounds

• Enthusiasm, creativity, passion and resourcefulness to network within the Houston community, private and public partners

• Executive presence and a personal demeanor that engenders confidence and respect from the Board of Directors, staff, donors, and the business community

• Experience championing, leading, and approving software and tech programs to improve organizational results
