General Description

The Nurse Auditor will complete reviews of all medical records for all DD Services and OASAS residential sites to uphold quality and performance standards. Effectively supports ongoing and collaborative communication amongst all program staff and is responsible for ensuring a trauma informed care environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs review of paper and electronic medical records including but not limited to; Plans of Nursing Services, Medication Administration Records, Appointment Summaries, Appointment/Lab follow-up, etc. to determine if all OPWDD and OASAS regulatory requirements have been met
  • Validates that medical policies, processes and procedures are in alignment with OPWDD and OASAS regulations and are being followed consistently and correctly by all residential staff
  • Consults with program leadership and nursing team as needed
  • Assists with quality management functions as needed, including development of policies and procedures, forms, corrective actions, reviewing medical paperwork as appropriate specific to investigations of a medical nature, etc.
  • Validates that all elements of Plans of Corrective Actions have been implemented as written
  • Maintain all required certifications to ensure ability to perform audits
  • Participates in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainings
  • Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job role performance through reading, supervision, in-service training and attendance at conferences and workshops
  • Awareness and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education: A minimum of an associate's degree in nursing or a related field is required

Credentials: Must maintain a current Nursing certification

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in an OPWDD or OASAS setting preferred
