A healthcare organization in New Jersey is seeking a Nurse Manager, Med Surg to join their compassionate and dedicated team. This role offers an opportunity to lead clinical operations, support staff development, and ensure high-quality care for a diverse patient population in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

The Nurse Manager, Med Surg will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with the Director of Nursing to develop unit goals and evaluating progress toward those goals
  • Managing staffing plans, schedules, and ensuring adequate coverage while maintaining staffing mix and compliance
  • Hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff, conducting annual performance appraisals, and initiating disciplinary actions as needed
  • Ensuring safe and professional patient care by enforcing compliance with professional standards and identifying clinical and educational needs of staff
  • Reviewing and implementing policies and procedures to align with regulatory requirements and organizational standards
  • Overseeing quality assurance and quality improvement programs to address patient care issues and ensure follow-up actions are implemented
  • Assisting in the development and monitoring of the annual budget, ensuring efficient and cost-effective resource allocation
  • Providing information for reports on utilization, credentialing, and scheduling to meet regulatory requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred
  • Current NJ licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • 5+ years of clinical med surg experience
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support certifications
  • Knowledge of JCAHO, CMS, OSHA, and other regulatory guidelines

Desired Skills:

  • AORN Certification and IV Certification
  • Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement principles
  • Ability to mentor and develop staff effectively
