Job Summary Job Summary: The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) provides high-quality, family-centered care to pediatric patients in an outpatient clinical setting. Working alongside physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, the PNP conducts assessments, diagnoses, treats, and manages common and complex pediatric conditions. The PNP also emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, and patient/family education. Responsibilities Responsibilities include: 1. Patient Care & Clinical Duties: Assessment & Diagnosis: Perform comprehensive health assessments (physical exams, health histories, and developmental assessments) on pediatric patients. Diagnosis & Treatment: Diagnose common pediatric conditions such as infections, allergies, asthma, and chronic conditions, and develop evidence-based treatment plans. Management of Chronic Conditions: Provide ongoing management for chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, ADHD, obesity) in collaboration with families and other healthcare providers. Medication Management: Prescribe and manage medications, including pediatric doses, and monitor patients for side effects and efficacy. Minor Procedures: Perform minor office-based procedures, such as immunizations, wound care, and venipuncture, as appropriate. Referral & Follow-Up: Coordinate referrals to specialists or hospital care when necessary and ensure appropriate follow-up to track patient progress. 2. Health Promotion & Education: Well-Child Visits: Conduct regular well-child visits, providing preventive care services, such as immunizations, developmental screenings, and health education. Family Education: Educate families about pediatric conditions, nutrition, safety, and other important aspects of child development and health. Counseling: Provide counseling on lifestyle modifications, including nutrition, exercise, and sleep hygiene for both patients and families. 3. Collaboration: Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with pediatricians, specialists, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare providers to deliver coordinated care. Interdisciplinary Care: Participate in interdisciplinary care meetings, contributing insights on patient care and treatment plans. Care Coordination: Act as a liaison between patients, families, and specialists, ensuring continuity and consistency of care. 4. Documentation & Record Keeping: Medical Records: Accurately document patient assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes in the electronic health record (EHR). Compliance & Standards: Ensure all documentation complies with healthcare regulations, standards, and clinic policies. 5. Clinical Leadership & Quality Improvement: Quality Improvement: Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and clinical outcomes. Supervision & Mentorship: Provide mentorship and support to nursing staff, medical assistants, and students when appropriate. Qualifications Job Requirements: Education: Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a specialization in pediatric nursing. Licensure: Current certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) through a recognized certification body (e.g., PNCB or ANCC). State Licensure: Active and unrestricted RN and APRN licenses in the state of NY. Experience: Clinical experience in pediatric care, ideally in an outpatient setting. CPR/ACLS Certification: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), as required. Bilingual (Spanish Speaking) is a plus EMR/EHR experience a plus New Grads are welcome!
