GENERAL SURGERY Wound/Skin Management Nurse Coordinator Jamaica Hospital Medical Center (JHMC) is seeking a full-time highly skilled Nurse Practitioner with prior Wound Care experience for an immediate Monday through Friday availability. The Wound/Skin Management Nurse Coordinator will work in collaboration with Physicians and RNs to initiate safe, effective therapies for patients with wounds and at risk for skin breakdown. Job Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of stages of growth and development and utilize such knowledge in evaluating staff performance in providing age-appropriate patient care.
  • Perform a broad spectrum of care regarding critical thinking, diagnosis, ordering of medications and diagnostics.
  • Works collaboratively with supervising physician(s) and care team in a timely manner with respect, and with the goals of patient-centered safety and quality as a priority.
  • Participate in daily rounds with an attending physician and develop/implement clinical care plans for each patient based on their specific wound care needs and enter necessary orders.
  • Collaborate with the CNMs/ADNs in providing a forum for on-going assessment of staff development needs and facilitates the planning, organization, and implementation of in-service education. Conducts incidental teaching to staff.
  • Perform detailed physical exams.
  • Perform bedside procedures within their scope of practice.
  • Educate patients and their families on wound care, prevention, and management.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Demonstrate accurate and timely documentation of detailed patient history and physical exams, consultations, and daily progress notes.
  • Shows competency and continued practice in privileges associated to area of clinical care.
  • Complete mandatory MediSys Health Network training as assigned.
  • Knowledge and adherence of clinical and institutional policy and procedure related to clinical practice and hospital/practice site operations.
  • Treat all patients and co-workers with dignity and respect.
Requirements Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Graduate of an accredited program required.
  • Curent NYS License (i.e., NP License) required.
  • Prior wound care experience
