Every employee takes a person-centered approach that exemplifies the ICARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence) through empathic communication and partnerships between all persons.Job DescriptionNurse Practitioners will provide medical monitoring and treatment of illnesses that resulted from exposure to the World Trade Center (WTC) on and after 9/11 at the New York City Fire Department's (FDNY) World Trade Center Health Program (WTCHP) locations.
  • Medical monitoring screening evaluations and track screening outcomes, ensuring that members are provided screening information and given appropriate authorizations for screening evaluations.
  • Obtain medical information and documentation about possible World WTC related cancer conditions and generate appropriate certification of those conditions to submit to federal WTC Program under CDC NIOSH
  • Enable timely certification of medically associated conditions
  • Coordinate WTC health cancer care management for active and retired FDNY WTC exposed members
  • Ensure care coordination to support continuity of quality care
  • Maintain patient/member's WTC records
  • Provide program benefits counseling and coordination of benefits
  • Nurse practitioners assigned to the Cancer Care case management unit will manage cancer treatment plans and provide treatment for World Trade Center (WTC) cancer related certified medical conditions to active and retired FDNY members enrolled in the WTC Health program. The practitioner will prescribe cancer care medications for members with WTC certified medical conditions utilizing an approved pharmaceutical roster
Minimum Qualifications
  • A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and
  • Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the NYSED; and
  • Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
