Job Description Supports the strategic plan in alignment with the health system's and nursing's mission and strategic priorities. Maximizes organizational and individual research, capacity and competence. Contributes to building the science for nursing practice through research and Improvement science with the goal of improving care delivery and patient outcomes. Job Responsibility
  • Provides strategic advice and guidance to the Clinical Professional Development and Program Management function. Promotes, supports, and facilitates individuals to engage in clinical inquiry through research; conducts/facilitates research studies and tests innovations; designs through evaluation phase.
  • Publishes/facilitates publications in peer-reviewed journals, internal and external presentations at local, regional, national and international forums, facilitates annual nursing research conference.
  • Implements improvement projects at the service/facility/system-wide level, incorporates evidence in to policies, procedures, and practice standards.
  • Collaborates and develops innovative programs to educate, mentor, and enhance the knowledge of nursing staff related to research, provides consultation and mentoring for all research related activities, precepts research fellows/students.
  • Applies for research funding and facilitate applications for research funding system-wide.
  • Provides service to community and department; serves on internal/external research committees, including but not limited to IRBs and Dissertation Committees.
  • Participates in various System level committees in alignment with the strategic goals and objectives of the Institute for Nursing.
  • Participates as a member of the healthcare team and various interdisciplinary committees to improve patient care.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory and professional standards of care; facilitates and directs the development of collaborative inter-professional research activities.

    • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
    • Doctorate in nursing required.
    • Prior experience with nursing research, writing nursing research protocols, and understanding of the IRB process.
    • Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
