OverviewThe Nursery Coordinator supervises and coordinates programming and curriculum for all nursery services at Abundant Life including the supervision of volunteers, volunteer schedules, manages resources, executes ParentServe and assists with administrative duties related to the Nursery Ministry within the overall Children's Ministry at Abundant Life Lee's Summit campus. This position also provides an administrative support role for 15 hours a week for the Blue Springs campus Nursery. This position specifically works with children ages birth through two. The work is to be done in alignment with the mission of seeing lives changed by Jesus. This position falls under the leadership of the Lee's Summit Children's Pastor.Personal Responsibilities•Be committed to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18; 1 Peter 2:2) by assembling for instruction in God's Word and engaging in the personal study of God's Word. •Responsibly use the resources at your disposal to foster the mission and vision of Abundant Life (1 Peter 5:1-4).•Participate in an Abundant Life group (Acts 2:41-42) as well as the discipleship ministry (Matthew 28:18-20).•Live in a way that glorifies God and aligns with the staff core values (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9).•Be committed to giving to the needs of the saints (2 Corinthians 8:1-7 & 9:12).•Become a member of Abundant Life.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesEven very young children can learn about God. Infants as young as four to six months old respond to happy times at church. By nine months, infants who have received loving care from parents and caregivers that talk to them regularly about God often begin associating God and Jesus with good feelings. Church becomes an attractive place where children want to go. The nursery supplies this environment by providing for the physical well-being of the children and laying the emotional and spiritual foundation for the remainder of their Christian education and discipleship.•Put in essential functions and responsibilities for this position.•Provide 0-2-year-olds a worship experience on their level that first and foremost offers a safe environment, adhering to child/volunteer ratios as outlined in the National Association for the Education of Young Children and all other policies and procedures as outlined in the Abundant Life Serve Team Handbook.•Must continuously recruit, onboard, train, and develop new volunteers.•Responsible for setting up new volunteers in the database and keeping their background checks up to date.•Responsible for scheduling weekly volunteers in classrooms for children ages birth through two, adhering to all adult to child ratios in a classroom and classroom capacity limits.•Foster a culture of discipleship from an early age among the 0-2 year old kids by loving kids well, having a time of prayer, worship, teaching God's Word, and scripture memorization, as appropriate for each age. •Execute the ParentServe program for engagement of nursey parents in the classroom by recruiting, training and scheduling parents to serve.•Work alongside the Next Steps class team to sign all graduates up for ParentServe if they have a child in the Nursey wing.•Assist with the Nursery ministry at the Blue Springs campus up to 15 hours a week, providing administrative support that will help them execute Sunday mornings for 0-2-year-olds. •Fill in for volunteers when needed.•Provide ongoing care, appreciation, and leadership for the Nursery volunteers and leaders.•Follow up with all first-time nursery guests and help families to take their next step at Abundant Life.•Celebrate new babies at Abundant Life by calling parents to congratulate them and mailing them a welcome to AL Kids onesie.•As we learn of miscarriages in the church, follow up with families and offer a miscarriage care package, if appropriate.•Maintain appropriate adult to child ratios on a Sunday morning. Confirming all volunteers by EOD Thursday will help to ensure no classrooms ever have to be closed due to lack of volunteers to meet ratio demands.•Keep classrooms looking neat, clean, and organized. All classrooms should be stocked with approved equipment, toys and essentials.•Responsible for consistent communication to all Nursery volunteers including emails, text messages, phone calls, etc.•Help lead quarterly all campus Children's Ministry volunteer trainings, attend weekly Children's Ministry meetings and bi-weekly all staff trainings.•Executive quarterly appreciation of volunteers and spontaneously throughout the year so volunteers feel valued, appreciated, and fulfilled.•Assist with event planning for Fifth Sunday's, VBS, quarterly volunteer trainings, etc.•Assist with childcare for First Step on a rotating basis.•Other duties as reasonably assigned.Skills and Qualifications•Friendly, personable, & approachable personality.•Thrives in a teamwork atmosphere.•Organized and focused on maintaining deadlines.•Ability to communicate effectively.•Ability to lead and develop teams.•Ability to stay level headed in emergency situations and provide the necessary leadership to make the right decision in critical moments.Employment at AL requires a commitment to honoring the Lord in work and life, as well as the character to uphold the AL Staff Core Values of Synergy, Excellency, Integrity, Tenacity, Humility, and Loyalty.
