Hours of Job
- Casual employment working 12 hour shifts as needed based on departmental needs.
- May float to work areas as needed, including Med Surg, Psychiatric Services, Transitional Care Unit, and the Emergency Department.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of basic patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient.
- Collaborate and interact positively with the interdisciplinary team to provide quality patient care and achieve a high level of patient satisfaction.
- Observe patients and report unusual conditions and/or reactions to an RN or an appropriate licensed team member.
- Assist with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
- Answer call lights promptly and respond appropriately.
- Straighten patients' rooms, change linens, and perform routine cleaning tasks in the patient care area.
- Document appropriate graphic information and patient care on the patient record.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Flexibility to work other nursing units or shifts.
- Must be capable of physically assisting patients, dealing with patient emergencies, and working as a clinical team member.
- STNA preferred.
Education/Certifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must have one of the following:
- Completion of State Testing Certificate Program.
- Nursing Assistant Certification.
- Successful completion of at least one quarter or semester of clinical work in a health-related program.
Experience
- Previous nursing assistant experience preferred.
