This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring seamless operations and high-quality patient care in a rural healthcare setting.If you are a strong leader with a passion for rural healthcare and a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, we encourage you to apply and join our team at KVH!GENERAL SUMMARY :The Nursing Managers will oversee the day-to-day management and leadership of both the Med/Surg department, including the Swing Bed program, and the Emergency department in a shared partnership model. Each manager will work on a rotating schedule, with one on duty while the other is off duty. This rotating schedule ensures seamless leadership while covering both departments.Key responsibilities include managing interdepartmental services, clinical staffing, patient placement, and maintaining high standards of care. The managers will also oversee the marketing of swing bed services within the Med/Surg department and focus on quality metrics, including nurse-sensitive indicators and key processes. A significant focus will also be placed on staff development, education, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.QualificationsEducation/Licensure:* Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an active RN license in Washington State.* BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.* TNCC, ENPC preferred for Emergency services.* BSN required; MSN preferred.Experience:* Minimum of 2 years nursing management experience.* Minimum of 3 years experience in acute care or emergency nursing.* Knowledge of hospital operations, budget management, policy administration, and regulatory compliance.Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:* Strong leadership and critical thinking skills with the ability to work independently.* Ability to manage personnel, including staffing, performance management, and conflict resolution.* Proficiency in using electronic medical records and standard business software.* Demonstrated ability to develop and implement department goals, manage quality metrics, and ensure regulatory compliance.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):* Planning & Coordination of Services: Ensure that nursing services in the Med/Surg and Emergency departments are patient-focused and compliant with all regulations. Support staff with resources and training, and ensure seamless operations across departments.* Swing Bed Program Oversight & Marketing: Lead the management and marketing of the swing bed program, developing strategies to increase utilization and awareness of services within the community. Collaborate with other departments to promote these services.* Focus on Quality Metrics: Track, report, and improve on key quality metrics, including nurse-sensitive indicators and key clinical processes. Ensure continuous monitoring and improvement of outcomes, working closely with the quality department to align with organizational goals.* Communication: Maintain open and clear communication with staff, physicians, patients, and families. Provide constructive feedback and resolve conflicts in a calm and professional manner.* Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for cost-saving measures while maintaining high-quality care. Foster a clean and safe work environment, ensuring staff compliance with PPE and infection prevention protocols.* Budget Management: Develop and monitor department budgets, manage expenses, and ensure resources are appropriately allocated across all programs.* Strategic Management: Develop and maintain action plans that support the strategic goals of the hospital, focusing on operational efficiency, quality of care, and service growth.* Staff Development & Education: Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Identify training needs, provide education, and support staff development initiatives to enhance skills and knowledge.* Personnel Management: Serve as a role model for nursing staff, managing performance through coaching, feedback, evaluations, and disciplinary actions when necessary.* Customer Service: Promote a culture of service excellence, ensuring staff understand the importance of patient satisfaction and loyalty. Seek opportunities for service improvement and efficiency.* Compliance: Ensure all operations are compliant with regulatory requirements. Maintain department accreditation and enforce infection prevention policies.* Collaboration: Collaborate with administration to manage departmental operations during emergencies, including divert status, disaster coordination, and other emergent situations.* Shared Leadership Model: Work in lock-step with the other manager, ensuring leadership across departments is aligned.
