SUMMARY As a participant in the RIT paid Co-Op you will gain exposure and experience in Nutrition Services.STATUS: Summer Co-Op LOCATION: Throughout various Affiliates DEPARTMENT: Nutrition ATTRIBUTES
  • Dietitian Major
  • Background in the field of study which coincides with the department utilizing the co-op
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Program Participation. Work under the direct supervision of a professional with limited scope of responsibility; gain experiences directly related to course of study and career interests; participate in active engagement and meaningful activities
  • Screens all new admissions within 48 hours of admission. •Evaluates patients and plans nutritional care. •Develops and implements care plans including diet instruction and documentation. •Confirms all diet orders within twenty- four (24) hours of admission, as well as all subsequent diet order changes.Writes and corrects therapeutic menus according to established guidelines and patterns, i.e. diabetic and renal patients.•Under supervision of a dietitian, calculates meal patterns for diabetics and renal patients according to order prescribed by the physician and accommodating patient preference. •Calculates calorie counts and dietary patterns. Monitors food intake. May assist patients with meal selections.Aids dietitians in processing dietary orders, menus, and other directives related to patient care.•From selected patients, obtains and records diet history information including food preferences and typical eating pattern. •Provides data collections on a variety of issues pertaining to the Nutrition

It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
