Position DetailsReq ID:req18972Position Title:Nutrition Education AssistantPosition Type:Staff Full-TimePosition Number:630594OSU Campus:Cooperative ExtensionDepartment:Muskogee County Ext CenterLocation Address:422 N Cherokee, Muskogee, OK 74403-7017 USAHiring Supervisor:Tammy PerryHiring Range:(Contingent upon available funding):13.00 - 15.00, HourlyWork Schedule:Monday - Friday: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.Faculty Appt Period:Job Summary:About Us:The mission of the Community Nutrition Education Programs (CNEP) is to educate and empower limited-resource families and youth to improve nutrition and physical activity behaviors.CNEP encompasses the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed), known as the Oklahoma Nutrition Education (ONE) program in our state. Our nutrition lessons focus on diet quality, food safety, physical activity, food security and food resource management.Our Nutrition Education Assistants (NEA's) provide research-based, hands-on learning experiences for families and youth at no cost.For more information, please visit: position is located in Muskogee, OK and is 100% funded using a combination of federal and grant dollars.This position is responsible for recruiting and teaching individuals and/or groups of low-income adults and/or youth eligible to receive SNAP benefits. It provides community outreach to agencies and organizations in targeted areas to motivate participants to develop healthier eating habits for their families.Requires travel within assigned county, district, and state. Occasional overnight travel. Reliable transportation for travel connected with official duties. Reimbursement for official travel.Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently. Ability to respond positively to supervision. Ability to read, write, and use people skills to relate to the audience to convey key educational messages. Ability to meet deadlines and complete required program reports.Preferred: Previous successful work experience. Interest in learning and then teaching nutrition related information. Prior teaching experience (formal or informal). Experience working with computers/internet-based programs.
