Springville UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT Job Description: Nutritional Services - Cook POSITION PURPOSE: The position of Nutritional Services/Instructional Aide is under supervision of Administration and is for the purpose of performing semi-skilled tasks in the preparation and serving of food at a school cafeteria and provide support for classrooms and yard supervision as deemed necessary by Administration. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Cleans, cuts peels and prepares meats, grains, vegetables, fruits and other foods for cooking or serving. Prepares salads, sandwiches and A La Carte items for staff meals. Assists cafeteria manager in the cooking of food. Portions, carries, and positions bulk quantities of food or ingredients. Stores food and kitchen related items as needed. Scrapes and washes dishes, utensils, pots, pans and trays. Cleans work areas and equipment including ovens, stoves, fryers and mechanical equipment. Handle and dispose of refuse, using proper sanitation. Operates a variety of standard and specialized kitchen utensils and appliances such as stoves, ovens, mixers, slicers, and can openers. Sets up steam table and serving line. Assist in serving of food to students and staff. Operates electronic point of sale (POS) equipment such as computers, bar code scanners and keyboards. Collects money and makes change. Performs morning lunch count according to established procedures. Prepare daily reports according to established procedures. Wipes and sanitizes eating tables in the cafeteria in between groups, and at the end of service. Cleans, maintains, and stocks kitchen restroom. Performs necessary cleaning duties as assigned, which includes all kitchen and cafeteria areas. Performs other cafeteria duties as assigned, which includes duties of cafeteria manager when required.
