JOB SUMMARY
We are searching for our next SUPER STAR ! As the Nutritionist you will be responsible to assess, observe, evaluate and document intervention on participants in the WIC Program. To provide participants with group nutrition education classes and/or individual counseling on their or their child's individual nutritional risk condition. Maintains good understanding of program and agency safety and infection control to comply with OSHA standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Determine program eligibility of WIC participants through income and nutrition assessment.
* Conduct performances and assessments of height, weight, and anemia screening for infants, children, pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women and makes the appropriate referrals when indicated.
* Conduct individual counseling using VENA based counseling.
* Develop Nutrition Education Classes and other projects such as fairs.
* Assist in the preparation of the annual Nutrition Education Plan as requested by the WIC Director.
* Conduct group classes / Review self-paced lessons with participants.
* Have participants Read and Sign Rights and Responsibilities and ensure each participant receives a physical copy. Provide participants with other required/requested written materials.
* Issue benefits onto EBT card for class appointment.
* Schedule future appointments in the MIS.
* Explain WIC program and EBT card to new participants. Provide information on TexasWIC.org. Review food package with the participant and provide required written materials.
* Approve Special formulas and upload all necessary documents into TXIN
* Breastfeeding Friendly attitude and Complete all required breastfeeding forms and upload all necessary forms into TXIN. Help breastfeeding women with any concerns and refer to IBCLC when indicated.
* Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
* Clinic Assignments are flexible. Employee is required to move clinic assignments at the discretion of the Supervisor/Director.
* Abides by infection control policies and procedures as dictated in the Centro del Barrio Infection Control Manual.
* Abides by policies and procedures on hazardous materials as dictated in the Employee Safety Handbook.
* Participates in the agency's Quality Improvement Program.
* Abides by all safety policies as dictated in the Employee Safety Manual.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
* Education Bachelor's Degree in Nutritional Science, Community Nutrition, Or Home Economics with 24-semester hours credit in Foods and Nutrition
* Experience in Public Health (desired).
